In some distance from Cook Inlet towards the heartland there is a small lake which is almost completely overgrown by plants. The lake is hardly accessible and can only be reached from one side over a small path. Birds which became almost extinct are living here: Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccinator). The parents and two young swans are circling. I wonder if Louie, the young Trumpeter Swan from the movie “The Trumpet of the Swan“ is there as well. The fairy tale movie of the director Richard Rich, based on a story of the famous author of children’s books E. B. White, made the Trumpeter Swans known to a large public. “The Trumpet of the Swan “ tells the story of young Louie. The rare Trumpeter Swan is North America’s biggest waterfowl with a wingspread of up to 2.5 metres, a weight of 15 kilograms and a height of up to 1.20 metres.
