Description: The cutter head of a cutter suction dredger is used in the port city of Richards Bay in Natal, South Africa. Extensive wet dredging work was required during the construction of the harbor, with nine large cutter suction dredgers and two hopper dredgers being deployed. To transport the dredged masses, over 70 kilometers of pipeline and five floating intermediate pump stations were necessary. A total of 170 million cubic meters had to be dredged.
