Description: Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa, is known for its impressive waves and strong surf. The swell waves on the East Coast of South Africa can reach impressive heights, necessitating the construction of breakwaters such as the North Breakwater, North Headland, and South Breakwater. These breakwaters were built to protect the harbor from the fierce storms and strong currents of the Indian Ocean. The southern breakwater spans 1400 meters, while the northern breakwater is 600 meters long. Additionally, there is a curved inner breakwater on the north side of the harbor entrance, the North Headland, stretching 480 meters in length. The deployment of the then-largest crawler crane in the world, the Manitowoc 4600 with an impressive lifting capacity of 350 tons, is also noteworthy.
