An Impressive Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas) at Shark Beach of Walker´s Cay (00003062)
Description: The Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas) is an impressive marine creature that can be seen here at the Shark Beach of Walker´s Cay on the prowl for food. Alongside the Tiger Shark and the Great White Shark, the Bull Shark is considered one of the 'dangerous sharks'. It prefers shallow waters near the coast and river estuaries. Its visibility is severely limited by sand whirls in the shallows. In estuaries, where fresh and salt water mix, visibility is always poor. The Bull Shark has the unique ability to thrive in freshwater and is found in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. With a length of up to 3.5 meters and weighing over 200 kilograms, it is a robust heavyweight. Bull Sharks feed on mollusks, rays, crustaceans, bony fish, and even other sharks.
