Description: The bull shark (Bull Shark/Carcharhinus leucas) is swimming towards a snorkeler. This captivating image captures a bull shark in shallow water at Shark Beach on Walker's Cay, the northernmost of the 700 islands in the Bahamas. Bull sharks are usually found in pairs, but occasionally groups of up to 20 individuals have been spotted. Known as the bull shark, common whaler, or ground shark, they are considered one of the most dangerous shark species alongside the tiger shark and the great white shark. A distinctive feature of the bull shark is its ability to survive in freshwater. They inhabit tropical and subtropical waters worldwide, displaying a low flight distance and often approaching divers with confidence. Bull sharks feed on mollusks, rays, crustaceans, bony fish, and even other sharks.
