Impressive Storm Waves at Cape Agulhas, South Africa (00011269)
Description: The stormy Atlantic at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, is notorious for sudden hurricane-force storms with high waves. During numerous visits to this area, I have encountered storms with wave heights of up to eight meters. Sometimes, I had to wait for up to ten days until the storm subsided and it was safe to venture out again. The waters around Cape Agulhas are abundant in fish, but due to the rugged coastline with many reefs, they pose a significant challenge for navigation. Since the 17th century, it is said that 140 ships have sunk in the so-called 'Graveyard of Ships' here.
