Fascination of Stormy Sea at Cape Agulhas, South Africa (00011297)

Stormy Sea at Cape Agulhas, South Africa

Description: The southernmost tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, is notorious for sudden storms with hurricane-force winds and high waves. During numerous visits, I have encountered storms with waves reaching up to eight meters. Sometimes, I had to wait up to ten days for the storm to calm down before venturing out. The waters around Cape Agulhas are teeming with fish, yet treacherous due to the rugged coastline dotted with reefs. Since the 17th century, it is said that 140 shipwrecks rest in the 'Graveyard of Ships' here.
