Turbulent Sea at the Southern Tip of Africa (00011301)
Description: The Southern tip of Africa is notorious for sudden storms with gale-force winds and high waves. During numerous visits, I encountered storms with waves reaching up to eight meters in height. At times, I had to wait for up to ten days for the storm to calm down before venturing out again. The waters around Cape Agulhas are teeming with fish, but the treacherous coastline with many reefs makes it extremely hazardous for navigation. Since the 17th century, it is said that 140 sunken ships lie in the 'Graveyard of Ships' near the Southern tip of Africa.
