Stormy Seas at the Southern Tip of Africa

Description: The southern tip of Africa is notorious for sudden storms with hurricane-force winds and high waves. During many visits here, I have encountered storms with waves reaching up to eight meters. Sometimes, I had to wait for up to ten days for the storm to calm down before venturing out. The waters around Cape Agulhas are extremely rich in fish, but also treacherous for navigation due to the rugged coastline with numerous reefs. It is estimated that around 140 ships have sunk in the 'Graveyard of Ships' since the 17th century.

Location: Western Cape, Gansbaai/Dyer Island, South Africa
