Captivating Impressions of Storms and Heavy Breakers at the Southern Tip of Africa (00011325)
Description: The Southern tip of Africa is infamous for sudden gale-force storms and high waves. During many visits, I encountered storms with wave heights of up to eight meters. Sometimes I had to wait up to ten days for the storm to subside before daring to venture out. The waters around Cape Agulhas are teeming with fish but treacherous due to the many reefs along the inhospitable coastline. Since the 17th century, around 140 sunken ships are said to rest in the 'Graveyard of Ships' here.
