White Foam Caps at the Southern Tip of Africa (00011342)
Description: White Foam Caps at the Southern Tip of Africa. The southern tip of Africa is notorious for sudden gale-force storms with high waves. During my numerous visits here, I have encountered storms with waves reaching up to eight meters. At times, I had to wait for up to 10 days until the storm subsided and it was safe to venture out. The waters around Cape Agulhas are extremely rich in fish but are considered highly treacherous for shipping due to the inhospitable coastline with many reefs. It is believed that since the 17th century, around 140 sunken ships rest in the 'Graveyard of Ships.'
