Captivating Images of the Stormy Sea at the Southern Tip of Africa (00011353)
Description: The southern tip of Africa is notorious for sudden storms with hurricane force winds and high waves. During many visits here, I have encountered storms with waves reaching up to eight meters. Sometimes, I had to wait for up to 10 days for the storm to subside before any outings were possible. The waters around Cape Agulhas are incredibly rich in fish, but due to the many reefs and inhospitable coastline, the area is considered very dangerous for navigation. It is said that since the 17th century, around 140 ships have sunk in the 'Graveyard of Ships'.
