Captivating Impressions of Storm and High Waves at Cape Agulhas (00011363)
Description: The southern tip of Africa is notorious for sudden storms with hurricane force and high waves. During numerous visits to this captivating location, I have experienced storms where the waves reached up to eight meters high. Sometimes, I had to wait for up to ten days until the storm subsided and it was safe to venture out to sea again. The waters around Cape Agulhas are incredibly rich in fish, yet due to the many reefs and inhospitable coastline, they pose a significant danger to maritime activities. Since the 17th century, approximately 140 ships are said to have sunk in the area known as the 'Graveyard of Ships' near Cape Agulhas.
