Dramatic Storm Scenes at the Southernmost Tip of Africa (00011364)
Description: At Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, fierce storms with high waves are a common occurrence. During my visits, I have witnessed storm surges of up to eight meters. Waiting for days on end for the weather to calm down was not unusual. The waters around Cape Agulhas are teeming with fish, yet perilous due to the numerous reefs. Since the 17th century, approximately 140 sunken ships rest in the 'Graveyard of Ships'.
