Description: The King Cheetah, scientifically known as Acinonyx jubatus, is a fascinating species that is nearly extinct in Asia and highly endangered in Africa. With its long legs, it is the fastest land mammal in the world. The unique appearance of the King Cheetah sets it apart from its spotted counterpart, as it features larger black spots that merge into distinctive stripes. This portrait was captured at the Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in the Kapama Private Game Reserve, where both bred and rescued cheetahs are cared for and eventually reintroduced into the wild.
