Its distinctive float consists of a multitude of polyps with various functions. The bluish shimmering gas bladder warns of the danger below - the tentacles that can grow up to 10 meters long. With up to 1000 stinging capsules per centimeter, they are extremely dangerous and can cause serious injuries upon contact. During a stay in Pakistan, a swimmer encountered a swarm of Portuguese Man-of-War and required immediate medical attention. Prompt medical care is essential when encountering this fascinating yet perilous marine creature.
