Description: The Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is seen moving close to the water surface six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock. Great White Sharks are fully developed at birth, measuring between 1.10 to 1.60 meters in length, and are self-sufficient from the start. Their diet mainly consists of smaller fish and squids. Pups are extremely cautious and immediately flee when an adult shark appears. Only a few pups make it to adulthood.
