Blacktip Reef Shark with Reef Fish

Description: The blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a species of shark that inhabits the tropical coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. With a maximum length of 160 cm and its gray-brown base color, this shark is easily recognizable by the black tips on its fins. It prefers shallow coastal waters, and its distinctive first dorsal fin is a common sight in tropical and subtropical waters. Blacktip reef sharks primarily feed on small fish, squid, and occasionally seabirds or other small sharks. Younger sharks prefer shallow sandy flats, while older sharks are commonly found along reef ledges. Some individuals have also been spotted in brackish and freshwater environments.
