Description: The blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a fascinating species that inhabits coral reefs. With a maximum length of 160 cm and a gray-brown coloration, it is easily recognized by the black tips on its fins. The tail fin has a distinctive black margin. This shark species prefers shallow, coastal waters and is commonly found in the intertidal zone. At Shark Reef, the blacktip reef shark is almost always present.
