Description: The Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa, is notorious for its heavy sea conditions. Especially at the North Breakwater, the swell waves are enormous and can reach impressive heights. This section of the East Coast has one of the strongest surf breaks in the world. Even the nautical handbook warns of the dangerous breakers that are present all year round. Often, the waves crash up to the crane and sometimes even up to the Manitowoc crane operator's cabin. In case of strong winds that restrict the crane's movement and put the operator at risk, the Manitowoc must be moved back to a safe area.
