Description: The port of Richards Bay in Natal, South Africa, is known for its impressive swell waves that crash at the North Breakwater. These huge waves can reach enormous heights and are a sight to behold for visitors. The Breakwater is located at a point with some of the strongest surf on Earth. Even the seafaring manual warns strongly about these breakers. This spectacular scenery can be observed all year round. Often, the waves reach up to the crane and sometimes even to the Manitowoc crane operator's cabin. When the wind becomes too strong, the crane must be moved to a safe area to minimize the risk.
