Solitary brown bear fishing for salmon in Brooks River (00001028)
Description: The brown bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) silently swims in the clear waters of Brooks River in Alaska. Searching for salmon, he carefully observes the riverbed. Occasionally, sockeye salmon swim by, but he pays them no attention. The bear prefers dead salmon, as they are easier to catch, even though their nutritional value is lower than that of live salmon.
