South African Fur Seals on Geyser Rock

Description: South African Fur Seals, also known as Arctocephalus pusillus, inhabit the rocky island of Geyser Rock near Dyer Island. This seal colony, consisting of approximately 60,000 animals, lives relatively safely on land and in the shallow waters near the island. However, when they venture out to sea for fishing, diving deep and enduring a dangerous passage where Great White Sharks lurk. The high concentration of Great White Sharks in the area is directly linked to this seal colony.
