Captivating portrait of the South African Fur Seal (00016583)
Description: The South African Fur Seal, also known as Arctocephalus pusillus, resides on the rocky island of Geyser Rock off the coast of Dyer Island. This seal colony, comprising approximately 60,000 animals, navigates between land and sea, facing dangers in both environments. Diving up to 50 meters deep to catch fish, they must be wary of Great White Sharks on their return journey. The high concentration of these predators is due to the presence of the fur seals. A captivating portrait of an impressive species.
