A shoal of small fish is swimming in front of a majestic Bull Shark at the Shark Beach of Walker´s Cay, Bahamas (00003039)
Description: A majestic Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas) hunting for prey in a fish shoal off the Shark Beach of Walker´s Cay, the northernmost island of the Bahamas. This impressive species of shark, alongside the Tiger Shark and the Great White Shark, is classified as one of the 'dangerous sharks'. Bull sharks are often found in shallow waters near the shore and in river estuaries. Here, visibility underwater is severely limited by sand swirls, even in calm seas. In estuaries where fresh and saltwater mix, visibility is always poor. Bull sharks have the unique ability to thrive in freshwater as well. In Africa, Central America, and South America, they venture far into the heartland of lakes and rivers. Their diet includes mollusks, rays, crustaceans, bony fish, and other sharks.
