An imposing Bull shark on the prowl off Walker´s Cay (00020615)
Description: The Bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) is a fascinating predator that usually hunts for food in pairs. This particular specimen was spotted in the shallow waters off Walker´s Cay, the northernmost of the 700 Bahamas islands. Bull sharks are considered one of the most dangerous shark species and often inhabit shallow waters near the shore and in river estuaries. They have the unique ability to survive in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Bull sharks are known for their bold behavior and direct approach towards divers. They feed on mollusks, rays, crustaceans, bony fish, and even other sharks.
