Great White Shark Hunting for Prey near Geyser Rock, South Africa

Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is one of the most fascinating marine creatures and a fearsome predator. Near Geyser Rock, South Africa, there is a large colony of South African Fur Seals (Arctocephalus pusillus), which are a preferred prey for this majestic predator. Every winter, the Great Whites come to this coastal region to hunt for food. The colony of seals, numbering around 60,000, provides ample opportunity for the sharks to feed. The seals are aware of the danger posed by the sharks and avoid venturing into the open sea where these marine predators lurk. The high concentration of Great White Sharks in this area is directly attributed to the presence of the seals.
