Description: The Great White Shark, also known as Carcharodon carcharias, is one of the most fascinating creatures of the sea. This young Great White Shark calf is cautiously navigating six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock. Great White Sharks are impressive hunters from birth, feeding mainly on smaller fish and squids. As they grow, they must overcome numerous dangers to survive and reach the top of the food chain. The Great White Shark plays a crucial role in the marine ecosystem, although sadly it is heavily endangered.
