Fascinating Predator: Impressive Great White Shark

Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is a fascinating and impressive predator of the seas. This majestic creature breaks through the water surface off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Geyser Rock in South Africa. It shares its habitat with African penguins, cormorants, and a large colony of South African fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus). The Great White Shark, a surface hunter, often ambushes its prey to surprise them. With its imposing size, strength, and fearsome teeth, it poses a constant threat to the seals in this region. Belonging to the mako shark family, this shark species is characterized by large gill slits and long pectoral fins. The largest Great White Shark ever caught measured 6.4 meters and weighed an estimated 1500 kg.
