Fascinating Great White Shark and the colony of South African fur seals on Geyser Rock (00015492)
Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is a fascinating sea creature known for its spindle-shaped body and conical snout. On Geyser Rock near Dyer Island, there is a large colony of South African fur seals, a preferred prey of this top predator. Every winter, the large Great White Sharks arrive in this region to hunt the seals. The seals are aware of the danger and try to avoid encounters with the sharks. The high concentration of Great White Sharks in this area is due to the presence of the seal colony.
