Description: The Barbary lion, scientifically known as Panthera leo leo, is a majestic big cat that was native to North Africa. This fascinating animal with its impressive mane once roamed the Atlas Mountains but became extinct in the wild by 1910. However, there are a few individuals found in zoos and private ownership. Today, some Barbary lions have been successfully reintroduced, although they are no longer purebred. This image captures a male Barbary lion in a serene setting, surrounded by trees.
