Description: The Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo), also known as the Berber Lion, is a majestic animal that was native to North Africa and has been extinct in the wild since 1910. This image captures a relaxed Barbary Lion resting under a tree. Despite their extinction in the wild, there are still a few individuals in zoos and private collections. Breeding efforts have successfully reintroduced this captivating big cat species, although the current Barbary Lions are no longer purebred.
