Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is one of the largest land animals in the world. With an impressive shoulder height and a weight of up to 7.5 tons, it is a sight to behold in its natural habitat. There are two subspecies: the savanna elephant and the forest elephant. The savanna elephant inhabits dry forests and savannas in Africa. Despite international bans on ivory trade, habitat loss remains a serious threat to these fascinating creatures.
