A curious Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) exploring its surroundings (00015334)
Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is one of the most fascinating predatory fish in the world. This young specimen, only a few days old, is swimming near the water surface off the coast of Gansbaai and Dyer Island in the Western Cape, South Africa. Measuring 1.10 to 1.60 meters in length, it is already a skilled hunter of small fish and squids. These pups are extremely cautious and retreat when an adult shark appears. Only a few of them survive to reach adulthood.
