Description: The Great White Shark, scientifically known as Carcharodon carcharias, is a fascinating sea creature. This image depicts a few days old baby Great White Shark searching for prey in the waters near Gyser Rock, close to Gansbaai and Dyer Island. Pups of this species are fully developed at birth and must fend for themselves from the start. Their diet mainly consists of small fish and squids. These cautious young sharks are wary of adult sharks and will flee at the first sign of danger. Only a few of them manage to reach adulthood.
