Description: The Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is seen moving close to the water surface six sea miles from the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock. Great White Sharks are fully developed after birth and self-sufficient. Their diet consists of small fish and squids. Young sharks are cautious and flee when encountering an adult shark. Only a few survive the first year to reach adulthood.
