The majestic Barbary lion relaxes on green leaves (00011876)
Description: The majestic Barbary lion (Panthera leo leo) relaxes on green leaves. This impressive animal with its mane once roamed the Atlas Mountains of North Africa and became extinct in the wild by 1910. However, there are still a few individuals in zoos and breeding centers. Breeding efforts have led to a new generation of Barbary lions, although they are no longer purebred.
