Description: The Cape Cobra (Naja nivea) is a captivating venomous snake that we encountered on a remote mountainside. This snake, also known as the Yellow variety, was spotted on a colorful rock in the Overberg fynbos area. Measuring up to 1.60 meters in length with a distinctive head, the Cape Cobra is a formidable creature. Its color variations range from Yellow to Black, sometimes speckled. Cape Cobras inhabit dry, rocky areas and are notorious for their potent neurotoxin. A bite can be lethal within minutes.
