Description: The Blacktip Reef Shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a fascinating shark species that inhabits the tropical coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. With a maximum length of 160 cm and the prominent black tips on all fins, it is easily identifiable. These sharks prefer shallow coastal waters and are often found in the intertidal zone. Young sharks mainly inhabit shallow sandy areas, while adults are commonly found near reef ledges. The Blacktip Reef Shark primarily feeds on small fish and squid.
