Description: The Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa, is renowned for its impressive heavy swell waves that reach great heights at the North Breakwater. These breakwaters are located at a point with some of the strongest surf in the world. Even the maritime handbook issues a stark warning about these breakers. This striking scene can be observed throughout the year. Often, the waves reach as far as the crane and can even reach the Manitowoc 4600 crane operator's cabin. When the wind becomes so strong that the crane can no longer swivel and the crane operator feels like they are underwater, the Manitowoc must be moved back to a safe area.
