Description: The cutter suction dredger Beverwijk 31 played a crucial role in the extensive dredging operations during the construction of Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa. A total of nine large cutter suction dredgers and two hopper dredgers were deployed for the project. Over 70 kilometers of pipeline and five floating booster stations were needed to transport the dredged material. A staggering 170 million cubic meters had to be excavated to complete the harbor.
