Description: The cutter head on Cutter Suction Dredger Beverwijk 31 played a crucial role in the construction of Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa. Nine impressive cutter suction dredgers and two hopper dredgers were deployed to carry out extensive dredging work. Over 70 kilometers of pipelines and five floating intermediate pump stations were necessary for the smooth transport of dredged materials. A staggering 170 million cubic meters of material had to be excavated to complete the harbor.
