Description: The cutter suction dredger with cutter head was used during the construction of Richards Bay Harbour. Extensive dredging operations took place, involving nine large cutter suction dredgers and two hopper dredgers. Over 70 kilometers of pipeline and five floating intermediate pump stations were used to transport the dredged material. A total of 170 million cubic meters needed to be dredged.
