Description: The cutter suction dredger is operating at sunset in front of an impressive dune in the harbor of Richards Bay, South Africa. The extensive dredging work for the construction of the harbor involved nine large cutter suction dredgers and two hopper dredgers. Over 70 kilometers of pipeline and five floating intermediate pump stations were required to move 170 million cubic meters of earth. A captivating image of man and machine in harmony with nature.
