Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is one of the most fascinating creatures of the sea. Emerging from the dark water, it gracefully crosses the ocean's surface. This impressive predator roams the waters near Geyser Rock and Dyer Island off the coast of South Africa. In this area, it shares its habitat with African penguins, cormorants, and a variety of seabirds. A large colony of South African fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus) also calls these waters home. As the top predator, the Great White Shark plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the ocean.
