Young specimen of the Great White Shark on the hunt for prey

Description: The Great White Shark, also known as Carcharodon carcharias, is a fascinating species of predatory fish that roams the world's oceans. This young specimen is on the prowl for its next meal. Just off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock, the shark is swimming close to the water's surface. Great Whites are already between 1.30 and 1.50 meters in size at birth and must fend for themselves from the start. Their diet primarily consists of small fish and squid. Young sharks are cautious and flee when an adult shark appears.
