Resting Barbary Lioness in Captivity (00011921)
Description: The Barbary lioness, also known as Panthera leo leo, is resting in captivity. The Barbary lion with its majestic mane once roamed North Africa, but became extinct in the wild in 1910. However, a few individuals still exist in zoos and with private owners. Successful breeding programs have reintroduced the species, although the current Barbary lions are no longer purebred.
