Fascinating young Cheetah curiously observes from a tree (00015990)
Description: The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a fascinating predator known for its speed and elegance. This young cheetah cub, only seven weeks old, enjoys the view from a tree. It comes from a private breeding station near Addo Elephant Park in South Africa where it is being cared for and will eventually be released back into the wild. Cheetahs are the fastest land animals, capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. Unfortunately, their habitat is shrinking, leading to a dramatic decline in the wild population. In addition to habitat loss, cheetahs are also threatened by poaching and the illegal trade of their skins. Conflicts with farmers and ranchers have also contributed to their decline.
