Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land animal in the world, captivating with its majestic presence. Native to Africa, this iconic species consists of two subspecies: the Savannah Elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) and the Forest Elephant (Loxodonta africana cyclotis). The Savannah Elephant inhabits dry forests and savannahs, standing at a shoulder height of nearly three meters and weighing up to 7.5 tons. Despite international bans on ivory trade, habitat loss due to the expansion of agricultural areas poses a serious threat to African elephant populations.
