Majestic Barbary Lion observing the surroundings from the dense undergrowth (00011822)
Description: The Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo) with its majestic mane peers intently out from the dense undergrowth. This fascinating animal was once native to North Africa, particularly the Atlas Mountains. Today, Barbary Lions are extinct in the wild, but a few individuals can still be found in captivity, such as in zoos and private collections. Despite successful breeding efforts, the remaining Barbary Lions are no longer purebred.
